Greece is probably my most visited country from my first venture to Corfu with my mate to my last solo trip to Aegina, which was my final solo trip before becoming totally captured by involved with my ex.

I spent a week in Crete, where I had a great time, I had arrived with my Swedish friend, who went off to Ios, the party island. I was always felt at home in the Greek Islands.

When I went to Crete in 1990 they had still quite clearly remembered WW2 and sometimes appeared to view Germans with suspicion.
My very first adventure was in Corfu with my best mate, I had loved every minute of it. I was acutely aware of the wildlife, having read My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell, who grew up in Corfu and was so inspired he had eventually run a zoo.

He is the reason I have a high tolerance of things like finding my son had a snail crawling up his bedroom wall.
