TYPE ONE DIABETES

A student in my block in my first year at college had Type One Diabetes. We had all clubbed together to buy a cheap second-hand fridge.

The people mentioned here had each contributed five pounds. A fridge was useful for everybody but she had been one of the main reasons. She had needed it to store her insulin. She had shown us her leg and explained her difficulties finding fresh injection sites. She was completing an architecture degree. It takes seven years.

Type One diabetes used to be terrifying. I found it scary to deal with as a teacher too.
