Holocaust Memotial Day 2023 A Message From Joanna Lumley.
One of my most vivid memories of being in Israel, is of being in the middle of Jerusalem, hearing a loud siren and watching in disbelief, as every car stopped. The car doors opened and everybody stood silently by their vehicle for several minutes. It was only later, I discovered the reason for this moving scene.
It was Holocaust Memorial Day.
I remember being on the kibbutz and talking to one of the kibbutzniks. I had noticed he had an English accent. He had explained that he had been evacuated to Kent during the war. He had also spoken tearfully of saying goodbye to his mother, whom he was never to see again. Here we are, a paltry seventy five years after those horrific events (mere moments in terms of world history) and the ugly spectre of anti-semitism seems to be lurking ready to pounce once more.

The other excuse was I was just following orders. I was also requ ired to just follow orders’ however I indicated to my lawyer at the time that I suspected my ex had set financial booby traps for me! In retrospect I would recommend using a forensic accountant if you suspect you are divorcing a narcissist and DOCUMRNT EVERYTHING! I developed my own system and I actually found the documentation process soothing. Work out a system that works for you.

If we want a world where millions of people are not persecuted and killed for their beliefs, we can choose to make it that way. Now more than any time in world history, we all have the power to say “NEVER AGAIN.” The question is, do we have the will or courage to do it?
⚠️ Spoiler Alert!! For me the scene which has always stayed with me is the final scene in Schindler’s List.
(It reminds me of the poor guy who tried to do something about The Prince’s Highway.He had finally succeeded in getting them to improve the road but had broken down talking about all the lives he hadn’t been able to save,)
My mum used to say to me, “You never want to have to say, “If only…” This advice has probably saved both our children’s lives.
