Agatha Christie novels were always a favourite of mine. They introduced me to the concept of crimes of passion. I seem to remember it being mentioned that crimes of passion were almost excused at that time, particularly in France.
I had some sympathy with this view as a teenager. Since experiencing narcissistic abuse I see this idea as somewhat destructive. Nor do I find Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights appealing.
The once romantic appeal of a controlling, obsessive guys has fortunately disappeared and these days I seek A Peaceful Easy Feeling.
