Recently I got talking to somebody online, who said they had stopped watching the BBC since their coverage of George Floyd.
Now I confess living overseas, I did not see their coverage, but this person did make one very informative comment. He stated that the BBC, had blamed all white people for this tragedy.
I have had to think about that, so I did not feel able to respond. My current thoughts are that, in some ways we did all contribute to a world where a white man felt he could kneel, in plain sight, upon a black man’s neck. Yes, most of us were appalled, but collectively somewhere we seem to be sending out the wrong message.
I have no answer to this centuries old problem but in my view there was nothing wrong in we, white people being made to pause and to think for a little while.
