The story of Karl Lagerfeld creating an outfit for a child reminded me of my child’s kindergarden teacher. They were producing a Christmas play, which is no mean feat with a bunch of four-year-olds. My youngster had informed this amazing teacher that she wanted to be neither an angel nor a shepherd. She had wanted to be a wombat.
She (the teacher) had calmly found a piece of brown cloth and had somehow managed to dress her as a wombat and had made it seamlessly appear as if wombats were a normal feature of nativity plays.
This kindergarten teacher was the most amazing teacher either of my children ever had.
