Some of the world’s greatest creative epics have been created to deal with breakups.
It is a great way to process feelings in a constructive way. I have recently learned that Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were often not on speaking terms when their greatest songs were produced. They were often taking potshots at each other through their music. They mention that at times they were basically screaming the lyrics at each other. This has produced some fantastic live work. Pain can be expressed in constructive rather than destructive ways. I love this version of The Chain. It is clear that the two of them are screaming the lyrics towards each other and the end results are incredible. Finding a constructive outlet for pain is a very positive step in healing. We cannot all display the musical genius of Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham. Nonetheless if we embrace pain, we may still be able to produce something great.
